WE’RE A CHURCH FOR OUR COMMUNITY, NOT JUST IN OUR COMMUNITY.

Serve Week is one of our favorite weeks every summer! Each year, we dedicate an entire week to making an impact right here in our own community by packing multiple serve projects into each day.

Projects range from writing letters to members of our Armed Forces, to finishing or updating homes. We have projects for all ages, interests, and skill levels. Our aim this year is that you would serve with a friend, so be sure to invite family, friends, or colleagues to serve with you.

This year, when you register before July 10th, you’ll receive a free Serve Week 2022 t-shirt! Spots for some projects are limited, so make sure you check out all of the projects and get signed up for the ones you want soon.

RACE WITH A POINT

To cap off Serve Week 2022, we’re hosting a .5k. Nope, you didn’t read that wrong! We’ll be doing one lap around our church’s grounds, all to raise money for one of our ministry partners, CarePortal, who helps meet the needs of children in crisis. They’ll receive 100% of the race entry fees, and you’ll get a medal and a banana. Win, win, right? Register today and join us!

BLOOD DRIVE

During Serve Week, you can give more than just your time! Did you know that by donating blood, you can save up to three lives in just one hour? Talk about a big impact. We’ll be having a community blood drive on Wednesday, August 10th right here at Journey in our Auditorium, hosted by Community Blood Center. Sign up for a time slot and save a life!

Serve Week FAQs

Head to VOMO, our volunteer management app. If you do not have a profile with VOMO, you’ll need to create one first. The organization code is JOURNEY. Projects are sorted by date, but you can sort them by project name or location. They can also be filtered by age of volunteer.

Yes! We love families serving together! When you click into a project, the minimum age of volunteer is listed. While most projects are family-friendly, some projects require a certain number of adults, and will ask that you only register the number of adults who will be serving. For those, your children are still more than welcome to serve with you, but please only take up the number of RSVP spaces that an adult will fill.

Absolutely! This year is our “come and see” year at Journey, and that extends to Serve Week! Please invite friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc to join you. They can either create their own VOMO profile, or you can include them as your guest when you sign up for your project.

Serve Week shirts are always the hot-ticket item of the summer! They will be available at JCI on Sunday, August 7th before and after services in the atrium. You must be registered for a project by Sunday, July 10 in order to be guaranteed a shirt in your size. Extra quantities in all sizes will be ordered, but we cannot guarantee that one will be available in your size if you sign up after July 10th.

Some teams are meeting at JCI, while others will meet at the work site. Please check your email for communication from your Team Leader, who will make sure you know when and where to meet.

For every project, you will want to bring grace, patience, FUN, and the heart of Jesus! Some projects require extra supplies, like work gloves, tools, bottles of water, or sunscreen. This information should be in the description of the project listing in VOMO, but please check your email for communication from your Team Leader, who will make sure you know what you need to bring to your project!

You will need to contact your Team Leader if you are unable to serve at your project. In the project in VOMO, click on “Contact Organizer.” This will send an email to the Team Leader.

Team Leaders will be in touch the week before your project, and the evening before. Please check your email for communication from your Team Leader.
