Since 2011, Journey Church International has existed to see people far from God become passionate Christians who make a difference in the world. In January 2011, led by Pastor Christian Newsome and his wife Danielle, a group of 20 adults began meeting in a living room in south Lee’s Summit. On September 18, 2011, Journey Church International officially launched at Summit Lakes Middle School. Teams of volunteers transformed the school into a place of worship and community where people could connect to Jesus every Sunday through high-energy worship and Bible-based teaching.
After 4 years of continual growth, Journey broke ground on its own property for a permanent home. Upon moving into the new facility, each weekend brought four Sunday Worship Experiences, 75+ Small Groups, space for engaging kids and student programming, and an online streaming campus reaching over 30 countries.
Nearly 7 years later, Journey has seen over 2,000 spiritual decisions, 350 baptisms, and over $1,000,000 invested into local and global ministry causes. Journey remains committed to fulfilling its mission through its five core beliefs.
- We believe in generosity because you can’t out give God.
- We believe in spiritual growth because every person has a next step.
- We believe in global impact because we are called to make a difference in the world.
- We believe in community impact because we are a church for our community, not just in our community.
- We believe in sharing Jesus because if you know Him, you show Him.
The best is yet to come.
