Journey Church International is a non-denominational church in Lee’s Summit that exists to see people far from God become passionate Christians who make a difference in the world.
In January 2011, a group of 20 adults, led by Pastor Christian Newsome and his wife Danielle, began meeting in a living room in south Lee’s Summit. On September 18th of that same year, Journey Church International officially launched at Summit Lakes Middle School. Teams of volunteers transformed the school into a place of community and fellowship, where people could experience Jesus every Sunday through high-energy worship and Bible-based teaching. After four years of continual growth, Journey broke ground on its own property for a permanent home.
Since our church ministry began, we’ve seen God work in incredible ways. He uses the church body at Journey to impact our community and the world for the better and guides us to be stewards of His unending love and grace.
Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we invite you to join us as we learn, grow, and strive to live more like Christ. Each weekend, our congregation gathers — in person and online — to glorify God and hear His Word. We also offer a wide variety of ministries, programs, classes, and more to help Journey partners deepen their faith and build meaningful connections with other believers.

It’s our mission to help you continue to deepen your faith, whether you’ve been a devout believer for decades or are new to Christianity. To do this, we’ve implemented a strategy that revolves around four Es. Nearly everyone at our church in Lee’s Summit who has committed themselves to these four areas has experienced spiritual growth in their life.
