No matter where you are in life, it’s never too early or too late to experience a personal relationship with Jesus. He loves you and created you for a relationship with Himself. Here’s what you need to know about becoming a follower of Christ.
Every one of us struggles to find purpose, answers, and help. Some days we just want to keep our heads above water — take care of the kids, pay the bills, and simply survive. We all want to feel we have what it takes.
But we also have deeper questions: Why am I here? Is this all there is? What is my purpose? Who am I? What happens when I die?
Jesus matters because He came to answer our deepest questions. By connecting us to the one true God, the source of all truth, Jesus gives us purpose for living now and he settles the question of where we’ll spend eternity.
God made you, He loves you, and He has a wonderful plan for your life. His plan is that you would experience eternal life one day in heaven (John 3:16) and an abundant life here on earth (John 10:10). However, all of us have a problem that we cannot fix ourselves. Because of our sin, we all need God’s help to “bridge the gap” that separates us from him. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The diagram below illustrates how God bridged the gap that separates us from him by sending his Son, Jesus, to die in our place to connect us to God.
If you are ready to meet Jesus and to experience the forgiveness, peace, and new life that a relationship with him brings, then you can do that right where you are by praying to God. Prayer is simply the act of talking with God. He knows your heart. He’s not as concerned with the words you say as He is with the attitude of your heart. Here is a prayer you can pray to commit your life to Jesus:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I admit that I’ve fallen short. I’ve sinned and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You lived, died, and rose again so I could be personally connected to God. I confess You as my Lord and commit my life to You. I give You my past, present, and future. Take my life and use it. I give it to You. Amen.”
If you prayed to begin a relationship with Jesus, we want to know! If you have any questions, we want to help you take the next step.
When you begin your walk with Jesus, one of your first questions may be, “What do I do now?” To help you on your spiritual journey, we’ve built a clear pathway to come alongside you and help you to learn what it means to take your spiritual next step. The best place for you to get connected would be to attend what we call Growth Track, and specifically Growth Track stepFIVE. StepFIVE happens at 11:00 A.M. in the Growth Track room on fourth Sundays, and at 9:30 and 11:00 A.M. on the fifth Sunday of the month in months that have five Sundays.
