WELCOME TO KIDS CAMP 2023

We are SO excited to spend one of the best three days of the summer with your kids! Our annual summer Kids Camp is packed with fun, movement, dynamic lessons, crafts, games, and so much more. This isn’t just VBS – Kids Camp will be one of the most fun and formative weeks for your child, and will set them up for their Very Best Summer (VBS)!

Our Kids Ministry’s mission at Journey Church International in Lee’s Summit is to see kids who are far from God become passionate Christians who make a difference in the world. Whether your kiddo is just starting elementary school or is almost in middle school, we want to invite your child to be part of what we pray will be the most fun three days they’ve ever had!

WHEN IS KIDS CAMP?

Kids Camp 2023 is happening Monday, June 12th through Wednesday, June 14th. Each session will run from 9:00 A.M. to noon.

WHO IS KIDS CAMP FOR?

Kids Camp is for any child who will be entering kindergarten through 6th grade in the ’23-’24 academic year.

HOW CAN I REGISTER MY KID?

We’re so glad you asked! Just fill out the form linked here and you’re all set! We’ll have packet pickup closer to the time of Camp. And don’t forget to order an exclusive Kids Camp shirt while you’re at it!

SERVE WITH US

Want in on all the action? Yeah you do! We would love to have you serve on our volunteer team during the best week of the summer. Whether you want to lead a small group, be on stage, or help behind the scenes, it truly takes a village. We promise you’ll end the week with your heart just as impacted as the kids who attended. Plus, did we mention you get a FREE t-shirt?! View all our available positions and get yourself signed up!

CELEBRATE WITH US

The fun doesn’t end on Wednesday! For kids who made a spiritual decision during Kids Camp, we’ll be having a Best. Day. Ever. party on Thursday, June 15th at 6:00 P.M. If your child is one of those kiddos, you will get more info about this party during Camp.

We’ll also be celebrating all the awesomeness of Kids Camp the following Sunday, June 18th. Our kids will be taking over both services by helping lead worship and making some other surprise appearances. It’s also Father’s Day, and what better way to celebrate dad than with a big ‘ol party? We hope you’ll join us (and invite some family or friends!) for this very special Sunday.

KIDS CAMP FAQS

Kids Camp is FREE! There are no costs associated with Kids Camp other than the Camp t-shirt (which isn’t a requirement for campers).

Absolutely! Any kid who will be going into kindergarten through 6th grade in the 2023-2024 school year is welcome at Kids Camp. If your kid is an incoming 6th grader, they can also participate in our Student Camp which happens later in the summer.

We’re so glad you asked! Each day will begin with large group worship (Rally) and a brief, age-appropriate message. Following that, kids will attend breakouts with their small group (up to 10 kids who are the same age). Breakout sessions include crafts, Bible stories, games, outdoor play (weather permitting), and more. We will finish each day with a closing Rally prior to pickup.

ABSOLUTELY! Kids Camp is the best week of the summer for our Journey Kids as well as the adult and student leaders. If you’re interested in volunteering, we have a variety of positions available, from small group leaders to check-in and admin teams. Click here to see all our volunteer roles and to sign up to serve.

While Kids Camp is designed for elementary-aged kids, your students can absolutely get involved by volunteering! We have student volunteer roles and would love to have your kid participate. Click here to see those roles and help them sign up.

If they want to attend a summer camp, they can join us at Student Camp, which is held later in the summer.

Kids will be given a small snack each day, but no meals will be served. If you child has food allergies, please indicate that in their registration. Staff and volunteers will be made aware of their allergies and their name badge will be marked accordingly.

Your kiddos don’t need to bring anything other than themselves and a positive attitude! We do recommend you send them in comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes. We also strongly suggest you make sure your child is wearing sunscreen when you drop them off. We’ll be playing outdoor games each day, weather permitting.

Good question! We have plenty of staff and volunteers who will be taking great care of your child(ren) while they’re at Camp each day. All children will have a small group leader that is responsible for approximately 10 kids, and most groups have a student volunteer as well. Small group leaders are required to be over 18 and go through our Kids Ministry training curriculum. All volunteers, regardless of their role, are required to complete an application process and pass a background check in order to serve with kids. Our Safety & Medical Team will also be present for the duration of Kids Camp.

Absolutely! Kids Camp is open to everyone. We would be thrilled to have your kiddo spend the week with us.

If you order a shirt for your child and registered before the early registration cut-off date (May 21st), then you can pick your shirt up during early packet pickup on June 8th and 11th. Note that while pre-registration closes May 21st, t-shirt orders MUST be in by May 1st.

Early registration ends May 21st. You can still register after that, but your child’s packet (information, name tag, etc.) will not be ready for pickup until the morning of day one of Kids Camp. As long as you register prior to May 21st, you will be able to pick your child’s packet up on June 4th and 11th during Sunday services, or on June 8th from 3:00 to 6:oo P.M.

Please note that t-shirt orders are due prior to the early registration deadline. If you would like to purchase a shirt for your child, you will need to do that before May 1st.
