The Witness of Giving

In message five of our series "The Tension: God and Money," we explored how our generosity testifies to the world about the work God is doing in our hearts. In Malachi 3, God calls His people to allow Him to refine their hearts, exposing motives that keep them from living generously, including greed, entitlement, selfishness, pride, and misplaced trust in money. These warnings are not meant to condemn us, but to prepare us for true worship and to make us witnesses of what life with the King looks like. As followers of Jesus, we are blessed to bless others, and when we give in a way that honors God, we help mobilize His mission around the world. Our generosity is more than a financial transaction; it is an act of worship and a testimony to God’s goodness, revealing a heart that trusts Him and desires to see His Kingdom bring Him glory.

From Series: "The Tension"

In "The Tension", we journey through the book of Malachi and discover what God says about generosity, stewardship, and the condition of our hearts. Because the tension isn’t simply about how much we have—it’s about who has our hearts. Through Malachi’s challenging words, we’ll see that generosity isn’t just something God asks us to do; it’s an invitation to trust Him, honor Him, and participate in what He’s doing in the world. When we put God first, He changes not only the way we handle our money, but the way we live our entire lives.
