Students
The Student Ministry at JCI exists to see students who are far from God become passionate Christians who make a difference in the world. We believe that becoming a “passionate Christian” happens in the context of relationships and we have designed our Student Ministry around that. We define students as grades 7-12. We currently offer 2 different opportunities for students to get involved weekly.
Sunday Morning Middle School Bible Study (8:00, 9:30, 11:00 a.m. & 5:00 p.m.)
Every week we have a time where we come together as a large group for fun, relevant teaching (but brief), and then we dismiss for small group discussion by grade and gender. We have Adult Leaders who are consistently spending time with these students and walk alongside them as they become “Passionate Christians.”
Wednesday Night Student Impact Service (5:30-8:00 p.m.)
Student Impact is designed for and to help students “make a difference” in the world, right now on their level. We believe every student needs an opportunity to invite their friends to church, and be impacted by Jesus. Our Wednesday evening services provide that fun, safe, and inclusive event that make it easy to invite a friend. These services have a large group of students with activities and games, worship with a live band, and relevant teaching that makes it enjoyable and meaningful. Our Wednesday Student Impact Experience occurs Wednesday nights, except on the 1st Wednesday of the month.
1st Wednesday Home Groups
The first Wednesday of each month, our students will meet in host homes allowing for students to connect relationally and spiritually in a causal environment. Our students will meet in four different homes: High School Girls, High School Boys, Middle School Girls and Middle School Boys.
Quarterly Activities
We will work to have quarterly activities with the purpose of reaching those who are “far from God” and to relationally connect with busy students. These events include bowling, fast food relay, paintball, sports events, concerts, water parks, etc. It is our goal that even during their busiest work, school, sports, and extracurricular activity schedule that students can make time to be at these activities so they can continue to feel like part of our ministry family. These activities will be designed to help busy students stay plugged in or get plugged back in.
Yearly Camp and Mission Trip
Our goal as a church is that every student attend Summer Camp every year to further grow spiritual and relational connections. Our Summer Camp serves as a yearly revival where our Student Ministry resets and reloads each year. Students are usually impacted more in one week of Summer Camp than they are in 51 other weeks of standard ministry.
This year we are planning on going to Go Tell Student Ministry Camp in Tocoa, GA, June 23-29, 2017.
The Student Ministry Mission Trip will be headed to the Los Angeles Dream Center for a week of inner-city and cross cultural ministry in late May of 2017! This trip is reserved for any student who will have completed 9th grade by the Summer of 2017 and who chooses to serve on our Student Ministry Leadership Team throughout the year. It is the goal of our church that every student would serve once on a mission trip before they graduate from High School.
