God doesn’t want us to do life alone. The Bible even tells us that in addition to our relationship with Jesus, we need to nurture our relationships with one another. While we want you to enjoy yourself and make connections at our Sunday services, real and lasting relationships are found in our small groups. In our groups, you will be encouraged to grow spiritually and find community.
When you join one of our small groups, you’ll get to take part in in-depth Bible study while also building lasting friendships. We have a number of active groups at our church in Lee’s Summit, so you can find the community that’s just right for you. Wherever you are in life — single or married, kids or no kids, new or lifelong Christian — there’s a place for you here.
One of our core beliefs is sharing Jesus, because if you know Him, you show Him. But to truly know Jesus, you have to understand His life and sacrifice. Our Jesus Track small groups are designed to help you do just that. In this Track, we’ll take a closer look at how the Son of God lived and what we can learn from His example. Learn all about Jesus Track and explore available groups.
It’s a common misconception that the Bible is too confusing and difficult to interpret. God intended Scripture to be a guidebook for all. Understanding God’s Word helps us deepen our faith as Christians and equip ourselves to share the Gospel with others. But we don’t have to study it alone! By gathering with other like-minded believers, we can dig in deeper and realize biblical truths we may not have otherwise. Our Scripture Track small groups are intended for just this purpose.
Life is full of ups, downs, and in-betweens. But whatever the season, we’re better and stronger when we put our trust in Christ. This is even more true when we surround ourselves with a supportive and encouraging network of like-minded believers. In fact, Matthew 18:20 says, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Our Life Track small groups are designed to help you find community while growing in your faith. Regardless of your age, gender, marital status, or life season, we welcome you with open arms.
As Christians, we’re called to be leaders for Jesus. When we know God, His Word, and how to apply biblical truths to our own lives, it’s our responsibility to help others do the same. Not only does guiding others in their faith have a positive outward impact, but it also allows us to grow in our personal walk with Christ. Step into your God-given calling as a disciple-maker!
God never promised life wouldn’t be hard, but He did promise that we don’t have to go through it alone. Our Care Groups offer judgment-free environments where you can feel loved, supported, and encouraged to keep moving forward, even in the midst of what seems like a storm. Regardless of the struggles you may be experiencing, you’ll receive guidance and compassion from our kindhearted, empathetic leaders and build community with others going through similar circumstances.
No matter what group (or groups!) you choose to join, our primary focus is to help one another grow as Christians, so we can go out and share the Gospel through community and global church outreach.
The first step in doing that is finding your people! We recognize that community is often more easily built among people with whom you have something in common. That’s why we have small groups for men, small groups for women, couples Bible studies, young adult groups, and more.

In addition to finding your people, we also want to equip each of you to grow spiritually. All of our small groups are centered around a discipleship process that breaks out into four distinct Discipleship Tracks: Jesus Track, Scripture Track, Life Track, and Leadership Track. In fact, you may even hear us refer to our small groups as discipleship groups because we believe so strongly in experiencing spiritual growth.
Our goal in creating this discipleship process is for everyone to participate in a group within each Track over a four-year period. Doing this allows you to study the Bible closer than you ever have before and form meaningful connections with like-minded individuals.
Leading one of our local church groups is a great opportunity to impact others and help believers take their next spiritual step. You don’t need any special experience or knowledge to be a group leader (just a heart for Jesus!). However, prior to leading a group at Journey, we ask that you participate in a discipleship group for at least one semester and complete all five steps of Growth Track.
If you’ve already completed those two things, then your next step is to fill out our Group Leaders Application. Once this form is completed, one of our Discipleship Ministry Pastors will be in contact to set up an in-person meeting and go over additional next steps.
