Serving on the photography team at Journey is a unique and rewarding way to use your talents to make a difference. By capturing the ministry moments that happen throughout the year, you help tell the story of our church family, preserving memories that inspire and uplift.
Serving the local church is a vital part of our spiritual journey, and being on the photography team allows you to use your God-given creativity in a meaningful way. Whether it’s photographing a Sunday service, a special event, or a community outreach project, your work helps others see and experience the love and community that thrives at Journey.
Not only is the photography team a place to serve, but it’s also a place to connect and have fun. You’ll be part of a creative, supportive group that shares your passion for photography and your desire to serve God through your art. Together, we laugh, learn, and grow as we capture the life of the church, all while building friendships that last. If you love photography and want to serve at Journey in a creative way, we hope you’ll consider joining our team.
You don’t need to be a pro to join the Photography Team! While there are some skills and equipment that may make serving on our team easier for you, we try to accommodate anyone with a base knowledge of photography and do our best to provide the training and prep needed to serve well.
In order for our team to better understand your skills, gifts, and desire when it comes to serving on a team at Journey, we have a brief application process to help us discern this info as well as give you more info about what serving on the Photography Team looks like.
First thing’s first – we need your info! Fill out our team application and tell us about yourself. Whether you’ve been shooting for a few months or a few decades, we want to know about your passion for creativity.
Once you’ve completed the application, one of our Team Leaders will be in contact with you via email or phone (whatever contact info you provide on the application) within a week to follow up and discuss next steps.
While you’re waiting for a response, check out the sample gallery below of photos from past services and events that our Photography Team has captured. This will give you a better idea of the team’s style and the kinds of images we like to see for use in print, on the web, on social media, etc.
After receiving and reviewing your info, one of our Photography Team Leaders will get in contact with you to set up an in-person meeting and/or shadow day. Shadowing days typically happen on a Sunday and involve following and observing one of our more senior photography team members. Bring your camera if you have one!
After shadowing as many times as necessary to get comfortable, you’re ready to serve! We’ll chat about further training/shadowing, schedules, needs, and availability at that time.
Whether you have questions about our process or simply want to know more about what our Photography Team gets to do, don’t hesitate to reach out to us! Send us an email and we’ll get back to you soon!
